Chapter 2 - Page 3

Back on track, that's the theme for this week!

This week we learned that we need to build a beam to help support the floor. We got started by tearing down the temporary support that we built two weeks ago. Then we started to build the new beam. We are using three 2x10 boards, glued and nailed with OSB in between. Progress was slow but steady - we've never dont this before... Here are some pictures.

The other thing that had to be done was to coat the outside of the foundation with a water proof coating to keep out bugs and to keep the crawl space dry. We used Eco-Flex to coat the walls. Cis, Jenna, Cath and even Grandma all helped to paint...

One thing that we can say about the Eco-Flex - it sure is sticky.

Well, at least we know that the beam will hold a beer! The picture did not turn out very well, but that's a beer bottle by my head...

Here are some pictures of a successful weekend of work! We finished the beam and the cross bracing. We also coated the entire foundation and then painted the part of the coating that will not be covered by the back fill. That's all for now, but check back next week for another update...
